ARCHIMEDES Biodegradable Biliary and Pancreatic Stent

The ARCHIMEDES stent is a Biodegradable Biliary and Pancreatic stent intended to be used to drain obstructed biliary or pancreatic ducts. The patented Dual Drainage Design Helical of the stent allows for bile to flow on the outer surface of the device while supporting the opening of the lumen.

Developed and designed to be placed endoscopicallypercutaneously, or surgically, either open or minimally invasive surgery, the ARCHIMEDES provides a flexible and innovative solution that can help reduce complications and the costs associated with them by removing the need for unnecessary additional clinical interventions.

Enhanced features

Different degradation profiles to cover a variety of malignant and benign underlying diseases.
Sinusoidal helical-channel design to allow bile to flow on the outside of the stent.
Mitigation of stent occlusion due to the degradation process of the stent materials.
Better simulated flow rates than tested plastic stent predicates.
Better simulated migration resistance than tested plastic stent predicates.
Equivalent crush resistance to tested plastic stent predicates.

UNITY-B Endoscopic & Percutaneous Balloon Expandable Biodegradable Stent System

The UNITY-B Endoscopic and Percutaneous Balloon Expandable Biodegradable Biliary Stent System is designed to be used to help drain obstructed bile ducts with the added benefit of biodegradation to potentially minimize the complications associated with traditional metal stents and internal/external HPB drains.

Enhanced Features:

Can be produced in a wide range of sizes and placed with the same approach used for traditional balloon expandable metallic stents.
Biodegradable nature of the UNITY-B stent is intended to mitigate stent in-growth, over-growth and perforation typically seen with traditional metallic stents.
Intended to eliminate the need for stent removal or replacement.
Potential to be used in non-conforming strictures and designed to be over-dilated for luminal wall conformance without fracturing.

Musculoskeletal Stent System:

The UNITY-B biodegradable stent was designed based on the functionality of Musculoskeletal System (Bone and Muscle) where the magnesium mimics the bone and the polymer the muscle. The Skeletal (Magnesium) portion of the system serves as the main support structure while the Muscle (Polymer) helps to support movement and stability potentially eliminating many of the short comings found in 1st generation biodegradable technology.
